The Old Fonthillians Association, which has been growing from strength to strength, will continue with plans for more reunions and events like the very successful Fonthill Festival in June 2011 which welcomed more than 800 from the Fonthill community.
The summer was a good time for OF get-togethers:
Poppy Barker held a re-union for 2005 leavers with lots of photos of the event posted on Facebook.
OF Simon Brewer suggested an OF cricket match which Ann Hacke arranged with great success on August 14th. A big thank you to Robert Herbert for umpiring, to East Grinstead Cricket Club for preparing the pitch and to Phyl Potter who took the photographs. We are aiming to try and organise an Old Fonthillians side to play a friendly next year - possibly against local opposition - and if anyone is interested then Simon Brewer would be very keen to hear from people. Get in touch with him via Ann Hacke.
In September Diane Rodgers, founder Chairman of the OFA, organised a gathering of 45 mothers and staff from the 1985 – 2003 era on a beautiful sunny day at East Court, East Grinstead with a buffet lunch prepared by OF mother and professional caterer, Sue Fitzgerald
Many OFs will have received their copy of this wonderful history of Fonthill created by Ann Hacke, Jane Griffiths and Mick Blacker. Additional copies of this fully-illustrated 64 page hardback book, published July 2011, are available free of charge to pick up from points in Turners Hill and Burgess Hill - please email ann.hacke@talk21.com for details. Alternatively a copy can be sent to you. Please email giving Ann your name and address in capitals and please give a phone number. We would also be interested to hear your connection with the school and dates - such as OF, past parent, staff, local historian. This helps with any queries but also makes sure our records are up to date.
There are additional limited edition prints available of Kathryn McEwen’s beautiful watercolour of Fonthill Lodge. Email kmcewen47@gmail.com for details.
Check out Simon Willcocks' website www.wilcko.co.uk to listen to and buy his new reggae album “Nice Work If You Can Get It”. Wilcko’s album has been very well received with interviews on BBC Radio Sussex and features in The Argus, Mid Sussex Times and the East Grinstead Observer.
