Junior

The Junior School (or Key Stage 2) consists of Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 classes and is situated on the first floor of our modern purpose built wing. All classes have a form room and a form teacher who is responsible for their pastoral care and, who they usually remain with for the teaching of Numeracy and Literacy.

We have excellent pupil/teacher ratios and there are interactive whiteboards in all teaching areas. We follow the National Curriculum in all subjects. At the end of Key Stage pupils sit National SAT tests as well as being prepared for entrance exams to the school of their choice or Kent 11+.

For other subjects e.g. Science, DT, Music, Drama and ICT the pupils make use of designated teaching rooms in other parts of the school where they are taught by subject specialists.

Pupils are also able to take advantage of other excellent facilities our site has to offer. The children love to play in our woods and extensive grounds. We have use of state of the art hockey pitches and netball courts at EGSC for matches and training sessions. One of the highlights of life in the JS is our unique French Exchange. Pupils in Yr 5 and 6 are invited to Lille to visit our partner school in Villeneuve d’Ascq where they stay for three nights with French families.
