The Friends of Fonthill

The Friends of Fonthill Lodge was established in 1987 with the interests of parents, children and the school in mind. The main aims as laid down in the Constitution are to: 

1. Foster and support the interests of Fonthill Lodge.
2. Encourage contact and good relationships between past and present parents and pupils, staff and Governors.
3. Raise funds for the benefit of the school and children.
4. Ensure that the existence and merits of Fonthill Lodge are known to the general public.

The Friends have no responsibility for administrative, disciplinary or educational matters.  Any queries regarding these go directly to the Head.

 All parents and pupils, past, present or future and any person wishing to further the interests of the school are considered “Friends”.  For parents within the school there is a voluntary subscription of £3 per term payable with the school fees. This entitles the subscriber to nominate members and stand for committee in addition to a vote on matters arising at the AGM.  It also facilitates the running of the organisation and helps keep ticket prices down. Therefore non-subscribers are required to pay a levy of £3 on the first ticket for each social event.

The committee is comprised of ten parents and three ex-officio members – these being the Head, a member of staff and a Governor.  The AGM is held in the summer term to review the year’s activities, approve financial accounts and hear parents’ views on the events and expenditure.  The committee meet once a term to discuss basic planning of social events, fundraising and items for purchase.  This is followed by parent sub-committee meetings to discuss final details and organise events with the help of non-committee parents.

Funds raised are used solely for the benefit of the school and children.  A list of donated gifts along with the rules of the Constitution and latest newsletter may be found on the Friend of Fonthill Lodge notice board which is situated in the main entrance to Sealy Hall.

The Friends is a thriving organisation due to the hard working, enthusiastic committee and supportive generous parents. It welcomes you in the belief that you and your children will benefit from its existence and trust you will offer your full support.
