Fishbourne Roman Palace - 19th November 2009

On Thursday 19th November, Year 3 visited Fishbourne Roman Palace as part of their History Topic on Celts and Romans. Whilst there, Year 3 watched a video about the discovery of the Roman site and also had a look at the amazing mosaic floors that the archaeologists had discovered. They also took part in 2 workshops: the first was a Roman School , where the children learnt some Latin words, they learnt about what happened in a Roman school and even found out what their name might have been! In the second workshop, the children had a chance to dress up in Roman and Celtic clothes and role-play Roman games, writing, cooking and designing mosaics. We had a great day and everyone learnt a lot about the Romans – Mr. Forrest was very impressed.
