FONTHILL LODGE SCHOOL TELLS THE “STABLE STORY”

Fonthill Lodge School PlayRock and rolling attendants to the Wise Men and dancing cherubs all helped to tell the “Stable Story”, a nativity in rhyme and song by Sheila Wilson, at Fonthill Lodge School. Year 3 pupils Scarlett Wood, playing Mary, and Thomas Lewis, playing the Angel Gabriel, sang a moving duet about the arrival of Baby Jesus in a stable. Mary and Joseph, played by Robert Rose, were visited in the inn’s stable by horses, camels, lambs, donkeys, oxen and the people of Bethlehem, all singing a song for the baby in wonderful costumes made by Head of Design Technology, Nicola Chivers and her team of staff and parents. The story was carried along in verse by narrators from Year 3 and by the Years 4,5 & 6 choir.

They were at the centre of the school’s annual Christmas play involving every pupil over the age of three. The Three Wise Men, played by George Lawler, Cate Watson and Rosanna Wrigglesworth, all spotted a special star in the sky through huge telescopes but tried to downplay their excitement about this sign of a new King to the jealous Herod, played by Joshua Murphy. Their antics had the audience laughing at each of the three performances. Everyone had a turn at delighting their families and friends with singing, dancing and lovely costumes. A collection was taken after the performances in aid of a the Peanut Ward, the children’s ward at the Queen Victoria Hospital which Fonthill Lodge has supported regularly. The producer was Nick Forrest, Head of Performing Arts, assisted in the choreography by Kay Ball and Candi Trabucatti and by Bill McEwen on Piano, Dave Trigwell on Drums and Mike Saunders on Bass.
