Survival Day 26th Sept 2009

Pupils at  Fonthill Lodge School are proud and delighted  to have their own survival expert. Fonthill dad Rob Gearing, a veteran of numerous climbing and survival expeditions, led a brilliant survival day in the 20 acre woods at Fonthill Lodge.  Children spent the day with their parents, identifying safe sources of food, preparing and eating, worms, wood ants and locusts, building bivouacs and setting spring traps. At the end of the day children and parents ate meat  wrapped in clay and cooked on a fire before going home exhausted and happy – they survived!
